With the investment of state-of-the-art equipment in our Operating Rooms, EIRMC has set itself apart as the regional leader in our approach to neurological and ENT surgeries. These investments place us beyond the current technological capabilities of all hospitals in Salt Lake City and Boise.
A unique surgical pairing – the high-powered O-Arm Imaging System, and the StealthStation S7 Surgical Navigation System – is a match coveted by surgeons in cities and hospitals much larger than ours.
Used together, they enable faster, more precise and less invasive spinal procedures, in a reduced radiation environment. Used separately, the Stealth gives better options to ENTs, while the O-Arm is primarily used by Neurosurgeons and Orthopaedic Surgeons.
The O-Arm gives surgeons CT-like images to view right in the OR, allowing for crisp, real-time, multi-plane 3D and 2D images. Better still, the surgeon now has a 360º view of pedicle screw placement before closing, sparing difficult and costly revisions.
This is a step-change above our C-Arm – the previous standard of care at EIRMC and still the status quo at the vast majority of hospitals – that provides X-Ray images, but can’t distinguish metal.
StealthStation Navigation allows surgeons to precisely track their surgical instruments in relation to patient anatomy, even as that anatomy is moving and shifting. The system uses a high-resolution widescreen monitor that gives surgeons a vivid view of navigation images.
These devices not only reduce risk, hasten recovery, and optimize physicians’ O.R. experiences, but also mean more precision, less risk, and better outcomes for our patients.
