Good health and good nutrition go hand in hand.

At EIRMC, we employ Registered Dietitians - licensed professionals who are members of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietitics.

These indispensable staff members work closely with everyone including physicians, nurses and therapists to plan care for our patients who are nutritionally at risk. Nutrition care is a key component of a comprehensive medical plan, so our dietitians participate in patient care rounds in the Intensive Care Unit, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, the Acute Care floors and the Transitional Care and Rehabilitation Units.

Their mission doesn’t end there. They also provide one-on-one education to assist hospitalized patients who have been instructed by their physicians to make substantial dietary changes. Making this kind of adjustment can be overwhelming, so our Registered Dietitians help ease the transition. They’ll give you the diet education you need to be successful, and more importantly, they'll simply help you find a place to start.

This type of nutrition education is provided for a variety of conditions, commonly including heart disease and diabetes. Our dietitians also offer a Healthy Eating Class to adolescents at our Behavioral Health Center.

One-on-one nutrition education is also available at the Wellness Center for outpatients with a physician’s referral. This enables our Registered Dietitians to give a fresh start to overweight adults and also to families with overweight children.

At EIRMC, we understand that staying healthy often depends on the simple things. Our Registered Dietitians help us make sure that something as basic as nutrition gets the attention it deserves.
