Nearly 250 Beechwood Memorial volunteers serve to help you and your family be more comfortable. Each year, volunteers donate about 40,000 hours of their time. And while we can count their hours of service, we can’t begin to measure the good they do.

Book & Magazine Cart

Our Volunteers are more than happy to provide you with reading selections from our book cart. These items, donated by Volunteers and Beechwood Memorial employees, are free of charge. If your stay ends before you’ve finished the book, please take it home to finish. Call ext. 6201.

Gift Shop

You are welcome to make purchases from the Gift Shop, including magazines, food items and candy, flowers, stamps, and décor items. A Volunteer will be happy to help and even deliver the purchase to you. Just make sure to follow any nutritional restrictions set by your doctor. Call ext. 6205.

Pet Partners

Among the many methods used to heal and comfort our patients, Beechwood Memorial participates in the Pet Partners Program. Studies have shown that interaction with animals can have therapeutic effects on patients and can aid in the healing process. At your request, a handler and his or her animal will visit your room and spend some time with you. The animals and handlers in the program have gone through training to meet the standards of cleanliness, obedience, and personality required to be in a healthcare environment. Call ext. 6201.

Spiritual Support and Comfort

Spiritual support is available, if you or your family members desire it. Latter-day Saint representatives visit on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 a.m. and sacrament is passed each Sunday. Catholic Eucharistic ministers visit daily, and non-denominational chaplains are available through Volunteer Services. Call ext. 6201.

Volunteer For a Great Cause

You can make a difference, too. If you are interested in helping patients and their family members once your recovery is complete, we will find a role that fits your personal preference, temperament, life experience, education, and background. If you’d like to volunteer or need more information, please call Volunteer Services at (208) 529-6201. You can also drop by our office, located on the 1st floor of the hospital off the lobby.
